Registered Apprenticeship: Mentorship 101

In this first webinar, Mentorship 101, Dr. Kimberly Harris explores the essential elements of mentorship, including open communication and role modeling. She emphasizes the importance of intentionality in connecting these components. Dr. Harris also examines mentorship in RA programs, highlighting its significance and how it differs from other mentorships. The session concludes with a deep dive into the role of evaluations in mentorship programs.

In the second webinar of the series, Mentorship Program Design, Cori Di Biase discusses designing effective mentorship programs, emphasizing how program goals shape their structure. He highlights the importance of aligning program elements with participant needs and concludes with a thorough discussion on evaluating the effectiveness of these program components.


In the third webinar, Defining Recruitment Goals & Key Stakeholders, Dr. Kimberly Harris and Mr. Cori Di Biase discuss the importance of defining recruitment goals and of understanding the role of a mentor. The webinar also outlines the need to involve mentors and other key stakeholders in the refinement and execution of the mentor recruitment process and includes recruitment sources for good mentors. The webinar concludes by presenting the role of evaluation and the ongoing learning it provides to enhance the mentorship process.



In the fourth webinar, Navigating Mentee Needs Assessment and Mentor Matching, Dr. Kimberly Harris and Mr. Cori Di Biase discuss best practices in assessing mentee needs. They also share the importance of aligning mentee needs with mentor experience, expertise, and identity and offer insights into mentee needs assessment. The webinar wraps up by presenting the role of evaluation and the application of evaluation to understand and improve the effectiveness of the matching process.


Best Practices: Recruiting for Registered Apprenticeship Programs

Hub team members Dorinda Byers and Dina Igoe hosted two Registered Apprenticeship Best Practices webinars focused on recruitment for Women in Manufacturing (WIM). In the first part of the 2-part webinar series, they covered recruiting 101, successful recruitment techniques and the importance of developing relationships and engagement.

In the second webinar, Dorinda Byers and Dina Igoe joined WIM to talk about successful recruitment techniques, connecting with students and Gen Z and using data to help in recruiting.

NCATC Strategic Partner Webinar: Employer Engagement in Apprenticeship

Hub team members Dina Igoe and Dorinda Byers, joined by Sinclair Community College and Warren County Career Center, hosted a new webinar, Employer Engagement in Registered Apprenticeships in partnership with the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC). The webinar highlighted effective tactics, resources, and strategies to increase employer involvement in Apprenticeship program planning and outlined a robust employer engagement strategy to build lasting community partnerships.

Women In Engineering Ohio (WEN Ohio): Apprenticeship Overview

Hub Sr. Advisor, Dorinda Byers, and co-presenter Dina Igoe, developed and presented an Apprenticeship Overview webinar to members of Women in Engineering Ohio (WEN Ohio). This session explores how the SCA Workforce Hub partners with employers to strengthen talent pipelines and develop a skilled workforce through RA programs.
